Writing Exercise

You have been granted one day by the federal government to declare as a holiday…
Room to Write, pg. 126

Heh, this is an interesting one. What do I value so much that I would give everyone the day off (except the post office *evil grin*) to celebrate it? Books? Writing? Gaming? Love? Yes, I know there is already a holiday for “Love” that sickly sweet, pink, Valentine’s Day…Blech… My holiday for “Love” would celebrate comfy relationships, not illusionary romance, but that’s beside the point. It’s not what I would pick for a holiday. Oh, I know what I’d do. I’d give everyone the day after Halloween off. So everyone could trick or treat late and go to costume parties. That way you wouldn’t have to worry about going to work or school the next day. You could sleep late, have some candy apples for a snack, then go out and enjoy the autumn day. Maybe have a football game. Just relax and take a deep, deep breath. Use the day to turn off the cell phones, the pagers, turn off the computer even. Use the day after dressing up as something else, to just be yourself.

I hate waiting. I’m waiting to chat with Andy. At least I assume we are going to chat. Especially since he insisted I download AIM. Hrumph, Andy where are you???

Having an eh day. I’ve been working on a timeline for all the Greyhawk campaigns Eric and I have DMed since third edition came out. We decided they would all coexist in the same world/timeline. Kind of our own Living Greyhawk. But it’s really a rather tedious task. Exercised. Toning stuff today, so now my arms are as sore as my butt. Hmm… I just noticed I have a small bruise under my glasses. Heh, I caught one in the face last night while playing disk. *grin*

What Color is Your Aura?

We don’t need a psychic to tell us that you’re giving off a Crystal vibe. That shimmering, iridescent aura reveals your sensitive, introspective nature. A soft-spoken romantic at heart, you like to think of life as a fairy tale — complete with a happily ever after ending. But when you occasionally misplace your rose-colored glasses, your idealism can take a pounding. That’s when you retreat inward, spending meditative time by yourself to restore your sometimes-too-fragile outlook on the world. Because of your delicate sensibilities, you prefer people and activities that don’t challenge your ways and views. But once you find a kindred spirit, you’re fiercely loyal — friends ’till the end. Quiet and gentle, you’re a thoughtful soul with a shining light around you.

I think it is time to go to bed. Yes, Maybe

No, really skip these….

Do You Have a Balanced Lifestyle?

You’re doing better than most when it comes to living a balanced life, but there’s always room for improvement. Try paying closer attention to how you feel each day, both physically and emotionally. Tune into what foods and beverages make you feel your best — and which leave you agitated or drained. Experiment with the amount of sleep you get to find the exact number of hours your body needs every night. Examine your situation at work and see if there are any changes you can implement to make your job more manageable. And keep in mind that knowing what you need to stay happy and healthy is only part of the game — you have to incorporate these things into your lifestyle every day in order to benefit. Here are a few general tips and reminders:

Health
As you probably already know, eating a varied, nutritious diet, working out regularly, and sleeping enough all boost your immune system to ward off illness, improve your mood, and make you more resilient to stress. Here’s a big pat on the back for making the effort to take care of yourself!

Relationships
Connecting with other people while making it a priority to spend some time alone may just be the secret to true social harmony. As studies have shown, friends and family can be a great help in times of crisis (and almost every other time, too). So just keep in mind that meeting friends for dinner during the week or setting aside time to visit with family can really recharge your batteries and make you feel balanced — especially when they’re offset with regular periods of solitude.

Career
It’s all about keeping your job in perspective. Evenings, weekends, and vacations are important to you, and you do your best to take full advantage of your personal time. After all, enjoying quality time off actually contributes to productivity when you’re back at your desk. When you’re relaxed and rested, you can be more creative and efficient. Your friends and family also get to reap the benefits of your successful work/home life. When you’re not consumed and overwhelmed by work, you’re free to be fully present in the moment. And isn’t that what life is all about?

What’s Your Perfect Workout?

The word yoga means “to join” or “to yoke,” and that’s just what this ancient practice does. It’s a physical activity that blends stretching exercises with breathing methods and meditation. Yoga harmonizes the three sides of you — the physical, mental, and spiritual.

Your personality makes yoga a natural choice. You may already be quite flexible, or perhaps you know you’d like to become more so. And chances are you know that pursuing peace is good for your health, which works out well, since yoga teaches you to step back from daily stresses and take a deep breath — literally. While the benefits of yoga take time to appear, you’re patient. Some of the best things are worth waiting for, right? You don’t need instant results to keep you interested.

No matter which of the many styles of yoga (from Ashtanga to Bikram, Iyengar, and Sivananda) you choose, make it a point to take a class — in person or on videotape — at least three times a week. Your body and mind will thank you for it!

Yep, yep, yep, yep… This is absolutely right on. Btw, sneezing when intoxicated is…weird…

Three Shots In…

You’re The Dieter, which may or may not mean you’re actually on a specific “diet.” It may be that you’re just aware of portion sizes and calorie count. And you probably keep track of dessert, only indulging on special occasions.
These habits definitely help you maintain your weight, but for proper nutrition, it’s important to eat a variety of foods — nothing should be completely off-limits. Being a little flexible about what and when you eat can make life a lot more fun. So keep up the good work in avoiding overeating, but don’t forget that an ice cream sundae every now and then is perfectly legal!

True, true, very true.

I’m drunk-ish and up late. That means QUIZ TIME!!!

Katherine, you’re a Carpenter

Your hands are your livelihood. Your practical skills mean that you’re the woman to have around when there’s work to be done. You have a deep understanding for the mechanical complexity behind how things work—architecure, machines, and even people. You can fix or build anything with whatever tools are on hand. That’s why you’re so good when it comes to real, physical projects. As a competent and reliable process person, people can count on you to meet the specs exactly and take just the right calculated risks to get the job done. Your independent style means that you prefer to work alone and manage a job by yourself. And as long as you’re given some creative freedom, you’re ready to work.

Who’s like you:
Amelia Earhart

Likely careers:
Carpenter, auto mechanic, landscaper, farmer, physical therapist, soldier, electrician.

Actually this is not far off. Despite my writing, I’m very much physical work oriented. Gimme a couple boards and I’ll be your Harrison Ford!
