Monthly Archives: June 2006

Went to the library yesterday.  Still in a strangely discombobulated mood.

Got Joanne out to three places.  Yay!

Otherwise lazy.

Am to DM tonight.

Ooo, Non Sequitur is good today.

Unlike a Virgin: Retailer fined in France for copying Madonna song. This amuses me.

Carl’s Jr. gives them what they want.  But the question is, does anyone really  *need* a 1400 calorie hamburger?  I know they have no obligation to do so, but…  Wouldn’t it be nice if they just offered up a nice tasty burger that wasn’t the equivalent of an entire day’s worth of meals?

I have a piece of granola stuck under my ‘f’ and ‘r’ keys.  That’s strangely apt, isn’t it?

Disc was all right.  We had fives, which was nice.

In the absence of anything important I give the world:

my pet!

This week has officially been dubbed Gaming Week. Hurrah! And I’ve strangely agreed to attempt a Planescape campaign. Should be interesting.

Very much looking forward to disc tomorrow. And maybe a nice cool bath tonight.

Going to work early, not taking lunch, and coming home early might be a new trend for Eric.  We’ll see.  He was planning to do the same thing today, so I expect him in a half hour or so.  It may help get more things done on his non-paying work.

Problems with our router today (beginning last night actually).  I had to plug straight into the computer to get any internet.  The router was fricking hot!  So I wonder if that’s the problem.

Finished the new scene for Pas de Chat.  Eric will give it a read, okay it (with hope), and then I’ll add it and snip the current chapter one.  Only a few days behind on things, I guess.

Did laundry.

Dinner with Chris tonight.  And maybe AJ, which would be cool.

Via sosostris2012:

What does your first name mean?
Katherine: chaste, pure, virginal
*cough*

What does your middle name mean?
Anne: full of grace
*cough*  I mean, no matter how you interpret grace… *cough*

What does your last name mean?
My maiden name was Miller.  That one is pretty easy to figure out.
My married name is Nabity.  According to a Polish friend of ours Nabity means ‘crowded.’  He explained the nature of crowded like this:  You’re waiting for a bus with a  dozen other people.  A bus pulls up, but is full.  The driver says not to worry.  He pulls a lever and he bus expands.  Everyone gets in and fits.  The driver then throws the lever the other way and the bus goes back to normal.  Now that’s crowded.

So what does your name mean when put together?
A graceful, virginal crowd.  Now that seems strangely apt.

What would you have been named if you were the opposite gender?
You know, I don’t know.  But my brother Tom was going to be named Alison.

Any other name oddities?
My mother’s maiden name is Olson.  My mother-in-law’s maiden name is Olsen.  There’s an on-going argument as to which is the official Norwegian spelling.

Do you like your name?
Yup.

What do you like best about it?
I like Katherine.  It suites me.  I also like that Nabity is fairly rare.  I’m still at the point that its mispronunciation amuses me.

What do you like least about it?

Some of my relatives seem to believe that my name is Kathy-Anne.

If you had to change your name (witness protection program, whatever), what would you want it to be?
I like Fiona, but I don’t think I’d be able to pull it off.  Maybe Miranda instead.

I am DMing.  Really I am.  It’s just that the boys got off on the subject of ironmans.

Can’t lose my name, it’s on all my stationery!

So, is there a rule that if you’ve written a book that has required research (as many books do) and after pretty much finishing said book, a writer goes to look up some minute fact about the subject of previous research, she will find a tidbit that she totally missed before and would have been nice to have had during the writing of the book?  Just wondering.  I do need to reread Pas de Chat though, so maybe the tidbit will get incorporated.  Or maybe the tidbit won’t matter at all.  *shrug*

Eric is going to try to leave work early for a gaming extravaganza with Chris.  I’m DMing.  I have cleaned the apartment, and myself, to some degree and made tea.  And have done little work otherwise.  I blame post-vacation malaise.
