This afternoon:

  • Finished laundry.
  • 1700 words done on Divine Fire.
  • Moved the floorlamp into the backroom.  With the window closed, it’s too dark.  With the overhead light on, it’s too bright.  The floorlamp is just right.

I think I’m going to have a (second) vodka/seltzer and indulge in some Doctor Who.

I can pretty much guarantee that my seltzer was not the same.

The seltzer I used yesterday was from a forgotten two liter bottle that’s been at the back of my fridge since possibly New Year’s. I’m not sure what to call seltzer that’s gone flat, but *that* is what I had with my vodka. Strangely, it was kind of good with a little lime.

Hmmm – something lost in translation here between American english and English english! The only product we refer to as seltzer is good old Alka Seltzer, the well known hangover cure! Do you call carbonated mineral water seltzer?

Anyway, thus my reference to Vodka AND Seltzer!

Definitely a cultural language difference there. Yes, I was referring to carbonated mineral water (only in that particular case, not so carbonated).

Oof, Alka Seltzer. Vile, nasty stuff that works so well. I’ve never used it for a hangover though, usually just as a cold remedy.
