I did a crappy three mile-ish run.  The first 2.2 miles were good, I did them in 17.7 minutes.  And then I got a stitch in my ribs to end all stitches.  It was more ventral than the usual side stitches and didn’t go away until I had walked about a quarter mile.  There was also construction and a hint of rain that kept me from my usual four mile route.  The weather is making my hands hurt.  But my back feels better than it has since last Tuesday.  Guess the run served its primary function.

Called Oma this morning to see how she was.  She seemed to be in pretty good spirits, actually.  We talked a good long while.  The stress test okayed her for bypass surgery tomorrow morning.  My brother called before I went out for my run to commiserate about being laid off from his job.  In retrospect, he wishes he hadn’t moved to a place that required a year lease.  Huh.

Competitive league may not happen for me, not due to being pushed out by lots of strong female players, but because there aren’t enough women playing.  As of Sunday night, there were four of us, and Sharon dropped after hearing that.  I have to accept the fact that I will never be able to predict the habits of the females of the species.  Need to update PHX-ations pages.  Keith again mentioned me taking over some of the VOTS html duties.  We’ll see how that works out.

Yesterday, I cleaned up the apartment a bit, except for dishes, and continued work on the wiki.  Will probably do the same today, maybe with some Rifts reading / Folly-giant-killing mixed in.  If I get kinda ahead on the wiki.  I’m not sure about working on a manuscript in wiki form, but I really shouldn’t be afraid of such changes.

  1. I would be very interested in hearing about your experience if you do decide to write a manuscript in the Wiki format. My buddy and I have had some discussions about this — he thinks it would naturally lend itself to philosophy textbooks, and I think you could do some interesting things with it for fiction.

I’m seriously considering building one for myself as a way to organize my thoughts on a whole series of stories I want to write in the same universe. So please, elucidate!

    1. My husband and I have been collaborating more and more closely over the past couple of years. He’s the main world-builder and plot-maker, while I fill in all the other necessary stuff. After too many conversations about which document is most up-to-date, I figured a wiki would be a good way to keep track of all the world details. For a manuscript though…

To get the most out of it, I figure we’d have to have a separate entry for each chapter. That way he can read over chapter three and make changes while I’m writing chapter ten. Then I can go back and see just how badly he mutilated my chapter three prose while trying to write in the scientific detail I completely messed up. I think a wiki would be very good for that. My biggest reservation concerns putting the manuscript into…well, manuscript form when we’re finished. What might be timesaving on one end might be wasteful on the other.

I’ll remember to mention it here no matter what we do.
