On Monday, we had an official high of 110 degrees, beating the previous record by 5 degrees (according to Weather Underground). It of course felt much hotter if you were anywhere near blacktop. And everything is paved in blacktop. Today, we had a high of 78. It’s been raining on and off since about 2:30. Predictions say that tomorrow should be about the same. I’m not complaining, but such turns do make my joints feel like they’re about to crumble under the very weight of my bones.
There was disc today, Josiah has organized a game a couple miles from us, but we skipped it. While I’m feeling better (the weather has calmed and I haven’t taken any ibuprofen today), I’m still creaky. And the lack of sleep didn’t help either. Honestly, my throat’s feeling a little raw and I fear a cold.
It isn’t going to be much warmer by Saturday either, so I predict very little swimming will occur at Hailey’s late birthday party. That…doesn’t disappoint me, though I wouldn’t be surprised if we move the party up to Mark’s instead of having it at Anne’s condo.
Work is work. Eric has tried to help me not be so overwhelmed, and it’s helped some. If anything, I’m just putting blinders on so I only see one problem at a time. Last night it was the design and use of fuel lamps. Tonight it’s the comparative architecture of two cities and the layout of a morgue. My life is exciting.
The rain calls for a period drama for my background noise, but I can’t think of anything suitable aside from Age of Innocence, which I have seen in the recent past.
Time to make some ginger tea, I think.
