Kick Off
Monday, March 21st, marks the beginning of Once Upon a Time X. As stated in Carl’s post:
This is a reading and viewing and gaming event that encompasses four broad categories: Fairy Tale, Folklore, Fantasy and Mythology, including the seemingly countless sub-genres and blending of genres that fall within this spectrum. The challenge continues through June 21st and allows for very minor (1 book only) participation as well as more immersion depending on your reading/viewing/gaming whims.
I have a few reading commitments in the near future (another book for #weirdathon and a couple ARCs), so the Short Story Quest should be a great fit. In addition to “The Djinn in the Nightingale’s Eye,” I have a couple of anthologies from my shelves I intend to dip into: Monstrous Affections, edited by Kelly Link and Gavin J. Grant and Engraved on the Eye by Saladin Ahmed.
My super ambitious goal would be to get started on A Feast for Crows and A Dance with Dragons. I intend to work through both using the combined reading order suggested at All Leather Must Be Boiled. I’m hoping this will make palatable some of the plotlines that I don’t care for. I made it halfway through A Feast of Crows a couple years back, long enough ago that a reread is in order.
Those short story collections look very interesting! I hope you’ll enjoy them.
Happy OUaT X reading! Short story is such a great quest, I’m still trying to get better with reading short stories. Monstrous Affections, edited by Kelly Link sounds amazing, definitely one for my tbr. Happy reading 🙂
Wow that cover of Monstrous Affections is definitely eye-catching. I’m adding it to my list!
I’ve had it on my shelf too long! I’m looking forward to it. 🙂
