#AMonthOfFaves ~ These are a few of my favorite things…

For the month of December, join hosts  GirlxoxoTraveling with T and Estella’s Revenge for their annual #AMonthofFaves blog event—a fun way to recap the year that was. They have every day of the event (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) planned out, and you can join in anytime! More details.

For December 3rd the prompt is:
[The 2018 Favorites Edition] – e.g. to eat, drink, wear, smell, see, do, enjoy, best purchases, most used gift received, most used purchases, favorite concert, outdoor activity, place visited, most squee worthy moment of the year, etc.

You know that song “My Favorite Things”? When I was a kid, I used to think that was a pretty lame song. I mean, doorbells? Whiskers on kittens? White dresses with blue satin sashes? Those are your favorite things? But as an adult, man, life is all about being able to appreciate those sorts of small things. So, without any further ado, here are a few of my favorite things from 2018 (or thereabouts).

To Eat and Drink

Signature Select pizza
Thrillist agrees. It’s good pizza.

Signature Select Rising Crust Pepperoni Pizza from Safeway – After a year of a lot of Domino’s, Eric and I decided to give the store-brand pizza a try because we had a coupon. Despite what you may heard from me on Twitter about my pizza proclivities, this is a good pizza. Great crust, lots of pepperoni, and a bit of gouda in the cheese blend.

In Tempe? Visit The Dog House.

Wet Snout Peanut Butter Stout from Sleepy Dog Brewing – I like dark beers and this one is smooth and malty with a little peanut-buttery sweetness. I’m really lucky to live somewhere (Arizona) with great local breweries, and I believe Sleepy Dog is available in Illinois now as well.

For “Educational” Purposes

On Twitter and everywhere you listen to podcasts.

The Evolution of Horror podcast – This podcast has been around since Sept. 2017, but I’m always late coming to things. Evolution of Horror takes an in-depth look at certain tropes in horror movies. And when I say in-depth I mean, for example, a 20 part series on ghosts stories in film.

Defunctland – Did you know there are a whole YouTube series about the history theme parks? I didn’t! This is firmly in the land of “things I never knew I wanted to know about.” Defunctland is one of my favorite theme park documentary series.

Favorite Thing I Did

Won Winter B League – I love playing ultimate frisbee and one of may favorite things this year was winning Winter B League. This was a fun team, we played well together, and in finals we beat a team that had beat us pretty badly in the regular season. And I wanted to post this picture again. This is the 17th of February. Look at that beautiful Arizona sky!

Well, there we have it. A very random selection of some of my favorite things from 2018. Here’s hoping 2019 can be as tasty and fun!

I’m all about a good pizza. And I love the line “things I never knew I wanted to know about.” Ha!

Also, I haven’t played Ultimate in years but I played for about five or six years in the early 2000s and loved it. I also love that sky!
