📚 Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon, 4/25/20

All the Readathon Details

The official readathon start time for me is 5am, which is so, so early. Maybe I’ll be up, maybe I will sleep in. I know my limits. But I’ll try to get in as many hours of reading as possible.

I read 651 pages! It was a good readathon, maybe the best I’ve had in a while.

Hour 22

02:35 – Time to get some sleep.

Hour 7

Hour 6

  • Reading: Unbury Carol – I’m at 23%. I’m a slow reader!
  • Food & Drink: The rest of my coffee. A tart green apple.

Hour 4 – 5

Nap time! Morning naps are one of my favorite things.

  • Other Stuff: Checked in on the rest of the internet. Set up today’s bujo list.

Hour 2

  • Food & Drink: Big cup of hazelnut coffee.
  • Other: The sun rose accompanied by a mocking bird. Fired up Twitter

Hour 0 Survey

05:54 – Up a tiny bit late, and already planning on a nap!

  1. What fine part of the world are you reading from today? Tempe, AZ – We’re supposed to have out first 100F day today! I can’t complain, the spring has been lovely.
  2. Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to? Looking forward to where Unbury Carol goes with its story.
  3. Which snack are you most looking forward to? Sausage on crackers. – My mom sent me a Swiss Colony box a while back and there was finally a good cracker sale!
  4. Tell us a little something about yourself! I’m a writer as well as a reader. (Psst: one of my books is on sale for $0.99 this weekend.)
  5. If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? I need to remember to switch-up books/formats if something isn’t working.

I have April books to finish up:

Dracula Unbury Carol The Unabridged Edgar Allan Poe
  • Dracula by Bram Stoker – Mostly, I’ve been listening to this as an audio book. I think I have four 5 hours left.
  • Unbury Carol by Josh Malerman – Some extra #SpringHorror.
  • The Unabridged Edgar Allan Poe by Edgar Allan Poe – Not the whole thing. I started this tome last April. I have a handful of stories and poems left.

And some special selections just for readathon:

H.P. Lovecraft's at the Mountains of Madness Volume 1 (Manga) Daisy Kutter: The Last Train Into Bones like Oil
  • H.P. Lovecraft’s at the Mountains of Madness Volume 1 by Gou Tanabe – A good strategy for readathon is to have some graphic novels in reserve.
  • Daisy Kutter: The Last Train by Kazu Kibuishi – Psst: Kazu Kibuishi is offering this free online!
  • Into Bones like Oil by Kaaron Warren – I’ll probably start the day with this Stoker nominated novella.

Plus, some other short stories and general online reading.

It’s been such a messed up and stressful time and I’m so ready. I’m ready for a good night’s sleep tonight and ready for reading whatever all day and night. I’m not striving for 24 hours at all because I really do need to keep my sleep schedule in tact this time around as I haven’t been sleeping well lately. Who has?! Can’t wait though!
