Blogging service JournalSpace has been completely wiped out after the drives that housed their entire database were overwritten.
Ouch. I wonder how I’d feel if LJ tanked. ‘Course, I do use ljArchive, but what if I didn’t. How zen could I be over losing eight years of blithering journal?

The 5 Bite Diet
Skeptoid had a podcast recently about how skeptics and “believers” have similar thought processes backing up their points of view. Reading the comments to this post on the 5 Bite Diet, I’m struck by how the same sort of thing plays out in the weight-loss community. Everybody thinks they’re right. Everyone has their evidence anecdotal or otherwise.
I must say, the website for this thing is pretty shrewd. It hits all the proper points (simple, eat what you want, lose weight fast, “revolutionary” etc.), offers a community of support, and provides an Ideal Weight calculator which gives a very low number thus encouraging one to sign up. It says my ideal weight is 101lbs. Now, I have a little around the middle. I’m not concerned about losing weight, but I do have some to spare. It gets ridiculous when you consider my less-than-5%-body-fat husband should lose 10 pounds according to this calculator.
Got nothing done this morning. Aw well. Should probably head to Target and have some lunch before sinking into an afternoon of gaming. If I can manage that.
